My Wr has over time developed a tendency to run a bit hot, all service items are up to date and pretty new, water pump etc new thermostat also. I’m leaning toward maybe the radiator is not being quite so efficient, it is nearly forty years old. I’m going to point the infra red thermometer at various points to see how much heat it is actually dissipating, if anyone else could do the same for comparison, I would be very grateful. Thanks

When was the last time the radiator was flushed, fully, backwards and forwards and with the inside heater turned to hot?
I would suspect it is a bit blocked/sludged up and a good flush would help.

I might get a chance to use the Ur in the next couple of days and if I do, I will temp test the radiator.

I’m not sure how good the flush was, but a couple of years ago I gave it a reasonable go with the hose pipe. The coolant is clean, and stays clean, I haven’t tried any type of radiator flush or anything, and I wonder if it is likely a lime scale problem ? That might be a bit hard to shift ?

Might be as simple as needing a new radiator temperature sensor? Perhaps that is getting scaled up.
I bought 25 litres of distilled water to use as the water round here is VERY hard!

Sounds like you need a mains water softener. First job we did when we moved into our house in Tonbridge where the water is also very hard coming from deep chalk aquifers.

I used a flush that is safe for all metals\rubber etc. Left it in for a long run and flushed twice afterwards. Lots of crud came out.

What was that Dave ? Could well be worth a try, lack of use on my part doesn’t help I don’t think.

I have done both of my classic tractors and the S2 with it and no issues.
