Default A4 no dash lights, no start.

I've had my 2005 A4 2.0tfsi quattro runaround for years. This morning it won't start, turns over but no dash lights. Checked the cambelt and it's fine, put the battery on charge but don't think that's it. Any similar experience or suggestions? Cheers.

I don't wish to sound unfriendly but this forum is for "for owners & enthusiasts of all pre "A" series Audis"

How do you know that I'm not an enthusiast?

I had similar issues with my ur Quattro - turned out to be the X contact relief relay.
It shuts off power to lots of parts of the car while the starter is engaged.

I'm not familiar with A4's but Google says relay position R6
Hope this helps.

Assuming you've checked all fuses in cabin and under bonnet?

I seam to remember unscrewing the torx type screws at the underbonnet fuse box, unscrewing these screws lifts the top half of the fuse box which resets the module within the box. Re-tighten the screws and see if it's any different......worth a shot!!

Best of luck.

Thanks for the replies. Googling it suggests it's related to the instrument cluster/immobiliser. And it's £175 to remedy it. I'll check the relays under the ECU on the bulkhead for water contamination though. Many years ago my 2.6 V6 80 Avant stranded me, and the RAC man did all his usual checks, last thing he tried was disconnecting the battery and rubbing the + and - leads together. The car started straight up after that, and I used that trick a few times before I sold it. Didn't work this time sadly

Just in case it helps someone else, the problem was related to a fault in the instrument cluster/immobiliser. It didn't help that the repairer didn't fix the issue on the first attempt. But I got there in the end.
