Not often I have strong feelings about this sort of thing.

What is being used to make a beautiful marriage is perfectly good viable classic cars rather than ones destined for the bridge. Yes I understand the arguments for and against, money rules, people do what they want, its a free country, etc.

However, more classic audis of all types still alive and on the road means there will be many different types of owners. This creates a stronger classic audi community. Every time someone cuts up 2 audis to make one car means that the community loses the potential to have 2 NEW owners.
Overall that is what any club/community needs is fresh blood being encouraged and welcomed no matter which model of audi they own.

I do see your point, indeed. But as a guardian of 3 classic Audis, I suspect (despite his modifying urges ) Mr Simmonds is being a bit tongue in cheek

Damn, rumbled.... Making mischief, sorry.

I actually agree, I'm not a big fan of most 'home grown' shorties. Very few were done completely properly with the modified 'C' pillars and roof skins. The little 80 that's for sale also makes for a lot more work in turning into a road-going short sport as it is a 4 door shell... It is indeed better keeping its humble roots.

The fad for making SQ's also appears to have passed.

Glad to hear that basically we're all batting on the same side and let's hope the new owner of the 4 door 1500 joins us on CA Forum to let us know how he gets on with getting the old girl back on her feet/tyres.

Chris, you have to click on the "Ebay Link" above where I've written my text......although it'll just take you to Gumtree as it appears the ad has been removed.
