At the moment I'm driving an even slower but not quite as old Audi which has had more hits than The Beatles........so a 1.6 with bent doors would be a leap forward!

Looks like a wonderful purchase for someone who would like a " Classic Audi" , with obviously an abundance of history and possibly a touch too much "patina".

Not everyone wants to race around at breakneck speeds , I really hope it finds a caring home for the sake of the old man , and the cars future ; another "shorty" would be a waste and put another car outside the reaches of the average Classic Audi enthusiast.

True, me neither. But when you consider this doesn't even have anything like the power of even a basic later 2.0 engine (and they were painfully slow for me) I shudder to imagine what it would be like trying to get up even a slight incline in that one.

It's not all about speed but I feel you do need at least some grunt there (for me anyway).

Each to their own of course. Anyway, its sold

BUT... just think what greatness that chassis (well a bit under a half of it) could achieve with a beautiful marriage with a chopped and tunnelled coupe rear end....
