Default Dodgy VIN?

One of the young girls in the office has her eye set on a 07 plate 1.6 Golf - however, when she did a HPI check on it it stated that the VIN number was not available and the V5 was not available.

When she rang the guy to see if she could have the VIN number he refused to give it to her because ' it could lead to fraud' - he said she could see the VIN number AFTER she had bought the car.

He also said he has had the car 4 months which is why he has no V5.

sounds shifty to anyone else??

Walk away! There are plenty others out there

Always makes me laugh when people are edgy about the vin numbers... It's in the windscreen FFS?! It's about as difficult to find out as the registration number

V5's get sent back in about a week.

A V5 doesn't prove ownership though, but the whole thing sounds a bit odd so I'd just move on. Plenty other cars out there.
