avatar picture
Went to upload a picture for my avatar and as usual me and my computer skills are not compatible at all well anything other than the easy stuff.
It says my file is too large it only wants 100 x 100 and my file is 3,000 x 2,000. I have spent hours this afternoon trying to respond to a thread using my old laptop, thats where most of my pictures are, when after i had nearly composed all the relevant info pulling stuff of vag cat photos etc which incidentally is time consuming hence why it's rare to see all encompassing info to do with our cars when people post replies, my laptop went into updating mode. When it came back the graphics card that decides to work properly when it feels like it went all haywire again hence me loosing all my typed out info. I hate computers when they prove to be so unintuitive! I am now using a iMac because of the laptop graphics card problem and the 2 systems are very different. Can anyone help with the above avatar question? Here's hoping i don't waste a few more hours of my life doing so! |

you can use an online program like this
http://gifmaker.me/resizer/ upload your pic and tell it what size you want it, then save it to your pc and upload it as your avatar |

this is another option, but its a bit clunky.
Using photo bucket choose 'Editor' in your photo bucket menu choose photo (it gives option of 'select from your computer' or 'select from your bucket') choose resize select width 100, and it will set height automatically to maintain aspect Apply, and Save when you save, create a separate album, and then you can download the album back to your computer. or use the image link, and copy/paste into the avatar location (I think that works) There are several web based resizing tools, but I'm always suspicious where using new websites is concerned. this link from the site that Coxy http://resizeimage.net

Many thanks to both of you Coxy and The Real MSH!
I am happy again in computer land! Rather than download something i chose Marks solution and it could not have been easier to be honest.Isn't it always the way there's always others whom if you ask make life so easy.Thats the moral of my story and i'm sticking to it. |

I'll add that bit to the guide ASAP, now that it's been test driven.
