Okay
current state of play. Wheels done!, went through 3 different brands of paint until I got something I was remotely happy with, manufacturers seem to think silver actually equals gunmetal grey. Wheel bolts sanded/cleaned/painted black. Bumper done, whilst not perfect it looks really good in the flesh, well pleased with that. Other than the lower strip for the door and adjusting that door, the nearside is done. Sanded back and treated the rust above the windscreen it's been painted with three coats of hammerite and then I've stuck a windscreen filler from a scrap car over the top of that, it camouflages it but does nothing more, my OCD doesn't allow me to take any satisfaction from it but it's protected meanwhile. Sills painted black again, heat treated the front bumper lower apron and it responded well. Fuel pump mounts still to be done, need to replace the wiper motor as it doesn't self park, the drivers door paintwork is half done, sunroof to go back in and job done! All being equal, MOT next week hopefully. There's bound to be an advisory of some sort so they'll need addressed and for sale thereafter, however I hate half a job so if anybody wants to make me a decent offer for my black 90 it’d be considered! Nice job...!
Think this has been a really successful mini-resto considering you weren't that "into it" to start with? Quote:

Thanks
Yes there’s part of me that’d quite like to finish this off properly, if I didn’t have the black 90 I could do so, the core condition of the Coupe is excellent |

Thanks.
In an ideal world I’d keep both but not an option for me just now, divorce would shortly follow! |

Today’s jobs.
Sunroof panel refitted, realised I got the trimming on the internal cover wrong which took me 4 hours to sort out. Rear wheel bearings stripped, greased and adjusted, bearing surfaces still chrome and not matt so good for a bit yet. Both interior lights refitted and now working Both indicator repeaters not working, corrosion in both connectors, cleaned with a file and contact cleaner. Remnants of old fuel filter rubber mounts dremeled off and new mounts fitted, replaced all the removed nuts with stainless and copper greased for future proofing. All metal brake lines cleaned with a scotch pad and waxed for protection. All 4 wheels now on the car! Last edited by Duffy3074; 06-06-18 at 09:43 PM. |
