Default Part number for audi 100 wheel bearing?

I need the wheel bearing and hub changed on my audi 100 quattro turbo avant (1990)
I ordered the parts from a main dealer and the local audi garage was fitting it, but they say the part the main dealer has supplied is wrong but the main dealer says it aint!

The bearing isnt the same size as the one thats came off the car, the new one is 1/2" and the one that came off is 3/4"

Anyone supply a part number for me as the main dealer is refusing to refund or exchange the part as they say its correct!

Front or rear hubs??

have taken a look on VAGCAT and it seems there are 2 hubs dependant on PCD. You have a choice of 4x108 or 5x112 ( for 4 bolt or 5 bolt wheels)

yes they are 5 stud, could you give me a link to the part number?

I dont know who is wrong but i suspect it must be the main dealer if the part is different to the one that came off it (either that or im getting ripped off by the garage!)

Part number for wheel bearing is listed as 4a0498625 and is 82mm which is the larger bearing and that is for all models in 1990 (other bearing is 75.07 mm but only upto 1986 model year)

hub is part number 4a0407615d and states 5/112 stud pattern if turbo (MC engine code)
443407615b 4/108 stud pattern (NF KU NP PH SH 4B engine code)

seeing as yours is a turbo the first hub part number should be for you.

what part number did the garage get, and were they from an Audi dealer, cause when i look on ETKA it is straight forward

hope this helps.

what the garage has said (and this makes no sense to me) is that the gap between the suspension leg and the bearing is too large, the bearing audi supplied is 1/2" and the gap is 3/4"

Anyone explain that to me?
I have checked the part numbers and the audi garage has supplied the correct parts.

I have a felling imgetting ripped off silly by the garage!

I have been charge silly money for this other bearing

It doesn't make any sense to me for the garage to be wasiting time on a wheel bearing repair. Any additional time they have you car means they can't fix it, bill you off and get your cash. They will want you off and gone so they can get the next punter in. I assume they are a reasonable outfit with a known reputation.

I would visit the garage and get them to show you exactly what they mean so you can see their point and decide what to do next. There is the possibility there is a genuine problem here so I would certainly give them an opportunity to explain the situation.

i thought they were reputable before but not so sure now< they have had the car over a week spent two days (seemingly) repairing a calliper they decided they couldnt fix< told me they were waiting on a new one coming and everything else was doen on friday< when i called tuesday they say they havent started yet>

Last time they done mot prep work for me they had to take the car from the main dealer to there garage and back again for its mot which is very max two miles< i got the car back with a hundren and twelve extra miles on the clock and runnign on fumes when i left it with a near on full tank of fuel
