Default Computer for the office

So, need some recommendations.
On a daily basis, my job is based on e-mails, online estimate programs (a bit "heavy ones"), MS Office (excel, word) and plenty of images added to reports and emails.
So, I'm looking for the new computer as my 1yo Lenovo laptop is annoyingly slow sometimes.
Looking towards 2017 iMac 27" 5k i5 or alternative Dell or HP or something else All-In-One.
Need that 27" screen, so I can open programs, excel and photo viewer at the same time.
Obviously, the processor has to be i5 or i7. Not sure if there is a big difference between them.
Any recommendations, experience about all this? Very good reviews about iMac, but I always have been Windows person. Dell gets good and average reviews. HP - don't know.

Don't send me to Currys, they will sell whatever they have interest in.. Their pre-installed computers and extra warranty included.

I bought a 2015 iMac had no problems, I'm considering upgrading the memory (only 8GB) but I think the latest iMacs have the upgrade (16GB), I run MS Office for the Mac.
Without a doubt go for it

Rather than a new machine, I'd upgrade the hard drive to SSD as Chris says

Advice on PC's that's a tricky one, AMD are top of the tree just now with their Ryzen CPU range, third generation due to be released next week, that means second generation CPU prices are going to fall, the 12nm CPU run cooler and faster than ever before, PC speed is not all about one bit of hard ware its about getting a good mix of performance hard ware, Sata SSD is a good place to start but limited to about 500Mb/sec due to the Sata interface, Where as M.2 NVMe drive Whoooooooooosh 2000Mb- 3500MB/sec depending on the drive and of course price, Ryzen CPU's love fast Ram and would strongly recommend 3200Mhz as a minimum, 8Gb ok but 16Gb of ram will be better with multiple application open at the same time, CPU 3.6Ghz to 4.0Ghz with 6 cores 12 threads is the one to go for, 8 core 16 threads just not value for money and really not required for running work applications, video card and motherboard, I need to stop, I could be here for a week, but what I will say most dedicated video cards will let you run 1, 2 or 3 monitors at the same time. Software, MS is stopping support for Windows 7 next year and are forcing you to install Windows 10. Photo of my working desk below, set up is Ryzen 5 2600X 6 core 12 threads all at 4.0Ghz, 16Gb 3200Mhz Ram, 1Tb M.2 NVMe + 6Tb storage drive and cloud backup, Radeon RX570 8Gb ram video card running 4 of the screens other screen from download/testing PC station.
I am now back on air cooling as water cooling not required for the 12nm Ryzen CPU running work applications.
