What polish for BMW?
Guy at work asked me about polish for his 97R BMW 5 series. Its a light blue metallic/aqua.
He's got one of those electric random buffer things off QVC and we were having a conversation about polishes and waxes. Any suggestions? Steve |

BMW paint is hard. Very hard in fact, although being a '97 model means it doesn's have the ceramicoat clearcoat of the newer models, so can be worked easy enough.
Personally, I use Menzerna PO85RD3.02 as it's ideal for tackling hard paints/clearcoats and is the only polsih that will remove swirling apart from the 3M Fast Cut range. You will get good results with a mainstream polish such as Autoglyms Super Resin Polish but it's dusty and does contain fillers so doesn't remove the swirling totally, it masks it. |

That's another minefield in itself.
Best for winter is a good wearing hardwax like one of the Dodo Juice range (although they are £33.50 a tub), or Collinite 915 which you can get off eBay US for a good price. The dealers over here sell it for about £23! You can get stuff like Megs NXT wax from Halfrauds but it's not a very long lasting wax at all and will probably only last about 2 weeks. It's like old addage, you get what you pay for. Although with some high end waxes such as Swissvax and Zymol, it really is rather difficult to see how they can get away with charging so much for their products. |
