8C-B4 Timing BeltLower Rear Cover
Can anyone advise as to how easy it is to get access to the lower rear timing belt cover (part number 048 109 129)? It's a 1992 8C-B4 2.0E, engine model ABT.
The engine sounds fine until it gets hot and then there's a clattering noise at idle which goes away when the revs are increased. The noise seems to be from the lower cam belt area. Apparently it's not uncommon for the aft cover plate to cause this; I'm guessing that it comes loose and rattles at a certain frequency. I'd just like to be fore-warned before I start taking things off. Thanks in advance. It looks like this: https://c1552172.ssl.cf0.rackcdn.com/513734_x600.jpg |
