On holiday in Tongue sitting outside the RBS leaching off there free Wifi on CA, due to lack of wind no fishing and if you are to go out you get mugged by 1 trillion billion midges and the laptop battery is about to give up, o'well back to 4 chanel TV. Have not seen any pre 'A' series Audi's yet.

Back home now, the holiday is over without any drama, on the way to Tongue stopped to photo this Citroen DS just north of Inverness
The drone only had one flight due to requiring a firmware upgrade, cottage from 80m and the view of the Kyle of Tongue. ELTEE are you in there this one is for you, don't get your panties in a flutter, in my mind a rare sight a VW T25 Syncro Feeding a tame deer at Bettyhill pringles, going, Going, Gone. We had a day out to Thurso and across to the east coast to Wick, then down the coast to Helmsdale to La Mirage for a fish supper, don't buy two like we did. Seatrout fishing was a little poor, hill lochs are always good for small brown trout fighting well above there weight, this 6oz was fun to catch and better to release back to the water. 1 1/2 pound seatrout not returned to the water Up in the north of Scotland you find lots of old cars just pushed in to some waste bit ground to die and you can find some treasures, this 2 door Mk2 Escort with no front suspension, engine, gearbox or glass on the back of a truck may be worth more than the Audi we drive on a daily basis. It took my a while to find a pre 'A' series Audi but on the way home spotted this coupe between Ullapool and Garve, Reg. N494 RP? is it yours? In all had a great time, thinking of booking Tongue for next year. |

Looks like a great time had by all. Great to see the pics as well, you're right about the Escort, however the Citroen is the winner for me. That's class. Oh and you almost sold me on a trip to the great outdoors up there, however the midges are a bit off putting. Glad to see you got a fish or two. The last time I caught trout was when I was 16 and poaching from a local trout farm.

Looks like you had a great time, midges excepted.
I spent 10 wet and on occasion very wild days around Bettyhill, Torrisdale and Tongue back in Feb 1993 mapping rock outcrops on Geology field course for my degree. Great stay in the Bettyhill Hotel, run by a wonderful lady from Mauritius. Don't recall seeing any deer, but that said on some days you couldn't see anything for the horizontal rain!!!! Thanks for jogging my memories Colin.

Thanks for all the reply's, yes the midges can put you off, you do need wind to keep them away and fishing with the fly rod you also need wind, in my case this is a win, win situation,
if its not windy your not out fishing, your in the car hiding from them, anyway now booked up for next August. |
