I think these have an EGR valve???? I'd block it off with a plate and take it from there.

I should have mentioned, that it was blanked off by the previous owner a few years back.
Really feels like the turbo doesn't kick in. Although I have driven an SDI caddyvan and I'm sure it would be quicker than my 80 when the turbo doesn't kick in

There's a wee boost pressure valve that can cause problems, it's a wee box with an 2-pin multi-plug and vacuum hose going to it I think?

You dont say whereabouts you are but if in Midlands, you could do worse than to try these folk.
They "chip" the ECU to improve performance and fuel economy at the same time. Not sure about a B4 diesel but should be the same layout as VW I would have thought.
When I was down in Cropredy on my boat a couple of years ago, I went to take a look to see what was in and there were all sorts of "goodies" parked on the premises; Mondeos, SEATs, BMWs and VWs, for example.
No connection, by the way.

I've often wondered if it's possible to chip one of these cars.

Thanks for the idea.
