It's rare. I wonder if like the V8, the transmission layout precluded a manual option on RHD cars. Or whether it simply wasn't that popular. But having less electronics to go squirly as they age is attractive.

theres one for sale over here with a dodgy slush box... maybe its a lesser A8 but i wondered if a manual conversion was possible.. was just a thought, cause the annual road tax is about €1800 !!!!!!!!! so unlikely to be in my yard!!!

I seem to remember that the dodgy slush boxes were usually the result of poor maintenance according to the A8 Forum guys.
IIRC the A8 Forum guys reckoned that they needed the pan dropped, everything carefully cleaned ,new filters etc, two or three changes of gearbox oil whilst running for a few hundred miles each time - and they were fine ! |
