I to used to salivate about the Renault Fuego when i used to own Mk3 cortinas in may late teens. Used to buy exchange and mart just to annoy myself weekly at the many for sale circa 85/86 .

Dad had 2, a 1.4 tl and laterly the 1.6 gts in the most gorgeous colour that resembles Audis Amythist grey but lighter. It looked so modern and futuristic for it's time and still looks good today, the dash arrangement was years ahead of it's time and if it weren't for the out of place huge headlamps still looks fresh today, think Alfa Romeo quad headlamp GTV front end would have looked better.

Those seats are extremely comfortable and from the way dad drove it round tight corners was a reasonable handler yet comfortable. From memory i really liked the over engineered "points cassette" that you could wind in the screw to adjust the dwell angle perfectly every time! No need for feeler gauges in and out all the time!

I always thought these wheels suited the the fuego best more than any of the others available - sort of space age like the cars shape and interior.

It's all very well reading what journalists say about some cars but they also said the Audi S2 was a disappointment!

Enjoyed reading / watching those Brian, Mark, Kenny !

From a time when car makers each brought something different to the table. Buying French used to give you something with a bit of flair and squashy seats, albeit wrapped up in a slightly flaky package, now Renault mostly peddle shopping trolleys, engines for Nissans and small vans to Mercedes of all people
