Welcome Callum,

I know the car you're trying to insure. As for insurance, I found that low annual mileage, and adding a parent as a named driver brought my premium down. I've always used comparison sites (even for my classic policy) and the prices are pretty hard to beat.

I also miss the CQ, I sold it on to another enthusiast and told him about CA but the car seems to have dropped off the radar. I'm half expecting it to turn up on ebay one day!

Here it is before I sold it:

I also regret this sale, at the time, these were a cheap car - an example like this would be worth 4 times what I sold it for

Hoyle

PS - did you and your father get far with the Datsun you bought? Was is a 160 or a 180? I can't quite remember!

I just sat for hours on confused.com changing variables, for example it was cheaper to keep the car in the drive overnight than in the garage

Also just running different cars, cars that are always crashed by young people are expensive, but random cars are cheap, eg S2 was cheaper to insure than the 80 tdi!

But yeah go through and change one variable at a time, theres alot you can get away with if you're careful

OKay thank you both, I'm going to give that a go, sounds a fair chance!

Thanks Hoyle! Yeah we've had it a while lol! I'll give the comparison sites a go as well, thinking of just changing the different variables and seeing where I get, I'll try different low mileage estimates.

That's a shame that they haven't come onto CA! Just seeing that pic again shows she was an absolute beaut One can only hope, if it does I'll be first to snap it up haha

Yeah its amazing how much the prices have rocketed up since

It was a 140J MK2, in the end we sold it because we didn't have the knowledge of the engine and all; however I used the money and bought a VW Scirocco MK2 which I've still got Although that insurance is definitely out of reach for the near future haha
