Default Tailgate problem..

Hi all

Have a -97 A6 TDI´s Avant that I recently got. Doing some touch up jobs I found out that all the electrics in the tailgate does not work. No reverselight, no dimlight, no rear wiper etc..
Shouldn´t be to difficult I thought but I´m now stuck in T/S. Have checked the wiring from tailgate to first connector in the aft sidewall and there is no problem. No fuses found broken. My question is where the next connector in the wiring loom is. Anybody got an idea? (It´s a lefthand drive car)..

In my RHD car it’s in the left side opening panel there is a big connector there all the tailgate wiring joins up there. It’s probably the flexing section in the grommet that’s gone though. I think the ground goes through the other side though to a fixing near the washer pump.

Yes, that´s what I thought as well, but I´ve checked the wiring in between and I find no broken wires. My thought is that there is some connector in fwd section of the car that is disconnected. But I don´t know were to look.

Trunk left compartment there is a connector there I found it troubleshooting reverse light problem. Probably same on a LHD car.

There's also a connector underneath the rear seat n/s just in front of the bulkhead there if memory serves that feeds the rear loom.
