They look the same from the outside but I believe that the location of bolt hole on the end of the handle where the handle bolts up to the door is different. I remember spending a lot of time in a number of scrap yards looking over different model VW's and some Audis trying to find a door handle to replace a friends broken Coupe door handle and they were different.

If the Audi 80 in question is an early 80's one (B2) then golf door handles do fit. I used one on a 1984 Audi 80 sport a while agao and it was a direct fit. The only difference being the insert. Chrome on the Audi, plastic on the Golf.

I'm sure I used MK2 Golf door handles on my W reg '81 Audi 80 when the fork part of the drivers door handle snapped. At least VW Audi made it nice and easy to do, even changing the lock barrel is a doddle compared to some makes.

it seems b2 80s all have bad door handles. i need to replace both the rear ones. one dosnt open from the outside and the other actually comes away from the body and i can see were the metal has snapped. do audi still do new ones?

UR quattro and CQ handles are mk1 golf handles.... its called the VAG parts bin for a reason....

I can name at least 20 items on a UR quattro that come on other VW and audi models... including the heater control connector under the bonnet, which is the same as a VW caddy/Mk1 golf

I seem to remember a good few years ago trawling scrappers for door locks and nothing from the VW range seemed to match - can't be sure there were any mk1 golfs there though - definaltely scirriccos and Mk2's (it was the rear tab that is located with a screw that seemed to change depending on the model of car, rest of the lock was the same... Also I though they were different because of the powerlocks?
