Question Rear view mirror adhesive

Ok so the rear view mirror has dropped off again on a hot day last week, never stayed on in hot weather since I had the windscreen replaced a few years ago... So what do people recommend to keep it on permanently ?

I've used a kit similar to this in the past. Although once it's on, it won't come off ever again

That sounds ideal, This double sided pad I have been using is great until you park up on a hot day when you find its dropped off by the time you get back to the car

Got the Loctite version from Halfords many years ago. It's all in one and worked quickly. Ensure there is a good dose of sunshine the day you apply it for the UV to do its bit.

I've used araldite on fitting the small metal blocks to Audi screens for 28 years, tape it up to the inside of the screen and leave it to set, then fix mirror on (say, next day)
Never had any fall off.

At the weekend, i gently nudged the mirror and broke it off at the stem. The metal plate remained solidly on the screen since Phil Plait stuck it there.

So my money is on araldite.

I can vouch for this stuff also, I used it about 5 years ago and still as strong as anything... just make sure you tick it on the right side of the metal clamp and in the right place on the window - it’s not moveable once it’s on!

The best way to make sure it stays on is to ask a windscreen fitter to glue it on

Costs me approx 60p to araldite it on and never had a problem.
If you can find a windscreen fitter who’ll do it for 59p please
let me know.
