Default Norton Dominator 99 1958

As some might have read on another thread I have just finished making good and painting a bike for an old friend. He finally finished the assemble and took it out for a good test run today. Had to flat and polish 3 of the chips that happened during the fit up but he has made a fantastic job of putting it together.
For those of you that can drag yourselves away from 4 wheels and 4 rings, a few camera shots

Just curious as to the modern design, they're very noticeable.

The mechanics of old bikes is great I think, whilst a part does it's job it's also usually a work of art!

Similar thoughts went thru my mind when painting the bits for him, I thought why oh F why do it this way, and the only reason I could come up with was it looked nice.

Or in the possible way is that it was designed from an old idea and they couldn't redesign the bit, just modify what they had.

My dad collects very early mopeds, 1930s to 1960, he had about 13 but has whittle them down now to a few, and some of the designs there were just designed to fail, but then that was when I suppose.
