Default new power going too fuel pump

right here gos hoping for sum help here please,,my audi 90 1985 has no power going too the pump. ave checked fuse under back seat its good, did a wee check with wire from battrie too rear seat and pump works,,so sum1 told me too take out relay and short two numbers out wich i did and pump worked fuses are good too so any suggestions welcome am a bit stuck now

Have you tested the relay ?

You've already verified the pump is ok. Shorting the 2 pins should be equivalent of the relay working.

So your circuit is good.

You've not got much left. Either the relay is not operating or it's not getting the signal to operate.

hi i bought a new relay but whos not too say its not working

where does signal come from ?

It'll get a signal from the coil to tell it the engine is spinning, might be worth checking connections at the ignition coil/engine bay?

connections on coil were dirty sanded them down nice and shiny now still no power any other ideas as am out off them

Your relay will have 7 pins yes.
Checking the wiring is required, Haynes manual to hand??!!

took relay off today and took it too a local lad who has a 2.0 coupe .we put my relay in and car wouldnt start so my relay is goosed managed too source another one in my loft and cars alive again happy days 1 job off the long list of resto thanks for all who commented
