I must admit to sticking to the thirds rule a lot of the time, even without realising. Sometimes though, taking the pciture from a different angle gives a whole new image (if that makes any sense?)

There's a bit of my photography here on www.urbanvisions.co.uk
Most of the pictures taken in Budapest are just stereotypical, but the ones in the gallery marked Walsall have a few which break away from the norm and they are by far my favourite shots.

Like you, I tend to rarely drift away from the norm... but the best again are those that break the mould... I did quite a lot of night photography of trains and infrastructure (big stations etc) And the images can be breathtaking. Likewise, pushing the camera in poor light/ agressive contrasts is rewarding... Mind the digitals make life easier...

Maybe we should start a C/A camera club....?

To go with the C/A dog owners club!!

and my step into real photography was with my trusty old Olympus OM30 which I bought whilst slaving on a market stall after school and at weekends some 25 years ago, and 90% of my photo's then were trains, and a lot of night ones as well!!

NO WE WON'T START A NIGHT TRAIN PHOTOSHOOT CLUB!

well, not this week anyway!!

(off to dig out some old class 37 and class 40 pics!!)

Sounds like a good idea fella!!

Could be that the picture has to be taken during that month and it will appear in that month next year if that makes any sense what so ever!!
Basically, pic the best 1/2 a dozen or so pics taken in January, post them up in the first week of February for say about a week, and then the winner goes into January 2008 and so on!
So as not to be in a rush for December, we just use one of yours that you took when you had a sprinkling of snow!!! Makes life easy!!

something like this

which is ideal for a December pic anyway!!

We had these made up for our VW club for 2008.

They are desktop calendars about 8" x 4", and the quality is excellent. Got them done via Vista Print and even with VAT and postage, it can't have worked out at more than £2.50 a calendar. We sold them for a fiver a time and used to profits to get 1000 flyers printed up!
You also get to edit all the dates to have what you want on there.
We got rid of all the crap like Easter, Christmas and Valentines day and filled it up with VW show dates and our club meets!
