I might be a complete Luddite here, however I somewhat despair with all of this, because whilst a mint 280, or any other car might now be worth £xx or even £xxx pounds today, they are valued on other peoples lost dreams... Cars like these were built by manufacturers to be owned, driven and enjoyed, to make history for their owners and their owners children; for them to become a blue chip, unused, fiscal investment, for a Brooklands 280 Capri to become an unused, ornament of fiscal speculation is tragic in the extreme; for its designers, builders and original owners merely saw visions of open rolling Alpine roads and lustful V6 soundtracks... All of these dreams are wasted in these 'lost enjoyment' cars...

Totally agree with the above but with this caveat. If i were investment minded like these "investors" which i am not who in my opinion are ruining the classic car market i would have to have 2 of the same car, one as the investment and another identical to use and enjoy. My S6 saloon is great for me,it's done 178,000 miles and will get loads of love and attention and is doing so but i will just keep driving it.So what if it gets to 200k miles! The whole underside will be only 20k miles old unlike the tired suspension S6 that sits in a guys garage doing nothing because he's scared to take it over 100k.Very sad.

Anyway one of these at similar price would spank the 280 Brooklands in every aspect ten fold ,absolutely no contest whatsoever!!

I remember going to look at a 280 a few years ago and the clown selling it thrashed it's arse over all these wee B roads like a complete fanny. I was SO unimpressed that I walked away thinking, "What a tosser and WHAT a bag of WASHING!"

However, THIS would seriously interest me - but not at this price!!
