To carry on from my last post that ended " onward and upward in 2018 ", The three wires down the drivers side clipped to the inside of the chassis leg turned out to be four wires, with coloured plug , red, yellow, blue and white, after disconnecting then and reconnecting them the starter now has 12.5 volts at the solenoid wire and the engine now turns over, the four connectors all had corrosion on them, now the engine turns over I also have a spark, now for fuel, the fuel injection pump relay has been removed as not to complicate things with a fuel leak and trying to confirm that I have a spark, fitted a jumper wire across the two large terminals in the fuse box where the fuel pump relay is fitted, and the fuel pump runs and for a wee change no fuel leaks, so turn it over and it should fire up, No, after a couple of 10 second turning the engine over it was time to remove a spark plug, and it was dry, so no fuel getting in to the engine, refitted the spark plug, removed cylinder number 2 fuel injector and sat in in a jar on top of the cam box, removed the alloy dome cover to access the air meter flap, bridged out the fuel pump relay and raised the air meter flap with my finger tips, got about 5mm of fuel (4 -5 year old fuel) in the bottom of the jar, replaced the fuel injector and alloy dome cover, now if I was correct cylinders 1, 3, 4 and 5 have 5mm of fuel in the bowl of the piston, foot on throttle 1/2 open and turn the engine over and with a puff of black smoke she is running on 5 cylinders and idles, removed the fuel injector jumper and refitted the relay and now starts from the key, no coolant in engine and 20 seconds was about the maximum run time, but in all two little faults due to not been run for 4-5 years seem like a result to me, thanks for all your help, may have to make up a for sale sign.

Boeing jockey now, was an electronics bodger for a previous and for a brief time, parallel career until the end of last century. I can just about remember ohms law, but am fully conversant with Sod's law in both industries.
I still use the former skills set, a unique set of skills he said, for tinkering with jalopies.

Colin.
Would you still need/like the circuit diagrams? I did start scanning, but stopped.
