As I posted, I repaired mine, it was split along the jubilee clip about two inches, degrease and I got a bicycle tire repair kit, there was a patch about three by two, just the job.
You could do a temporary repair while you source another.

I think this may have a similar split around the clip also, I've wrapped a load of black insulation tape around it for now and it does seem to be running better now.

I'm wonder now if it upset it all when i recently changed the air filter!

The rubber boot was dirty and grimy on mine, when I refitted it, the tickover was all over the place.
I patched it and then fitted the clip over the patch, been ok for the last four months.
I suspect it had been split for years and I must have disturbed it

Thats good news ☺

Be careful with a patch, the only smooth surface is on the inside, if you rely on glue alone to hold it, you won't know if it fails at any point until that patch fires its way down your manifold, if you can try to make sure its pinched by the jubilee clip.

Some have had success with "liquid rubber". Im not sure of any brands but it's like a black silicon tube, the applied rubber has a solvent in it so eats in to the surface of the existing rubber and makes it almost one piece.

If you know of anyone that deals with rubber roofs or rubber tanking systems, they'll use it regularly for joints and repairs.

I ordered some of that liquid rubber as you recommended which arrived yesterday, I've guled up the splits but they don't seem to have cured it but i have found what the fault is now...

One of the injector seals is worn so the injector wrobbles in it's hole, that would cause the problem. I've bought another ccar today so I'll probably be selling this one on now.

Why not get new seals and replace, IIRC less than £30

Someone on ebay is selling the seals for about £1.20 each, its just getting the old injectors out, it does look a bit of pig of a job?

Undo the socket headed screws holding the injector retainer (number 22),
pull out the injectors, (leave the injectors connected to the fuel lines) with grips,
remove the small O rings (7a),
remove the larger O ring (7),
wipe and clean the outside of the injectors,
fit the larger O seals, I warmed them in hot water, add suitable grease to ease insertion
fit the small O seals (I didn't replace these)
leave the plastic inserts (8) alone they'll probably break,
push the injectors home and refit the bar (22)
