2.0E hesitant sometimes
Anybody know what could cause my Cab 2.0E to be hesitant sometimes? Feel weak, losing power occasionally... It runs smooth otherwise. Probably the consumption is a bit on the high side in town. I've replaced spark plugs, leads, distributor cap and rotor so far. Could it be some kind of sensor? Lambda sensor?
Thanks |

I'm no expert DanielGT500...
but I do know that the lambda sensor is plugged in to the cat, I think it controls the emissions, which in turn may affect power, have you ran a diagnostics test to see if the lambda sensor is faulty? If the cat itself is on it's way out, well it might be blocking the gases that cause the engine to rev, thus causing power loss, might be worth checking the condition of the cat too. Your cabbie was stood for a while, yes? have you checked the fuel pipes for signs of corrosion/damage, thinking that perhaps a corroded/damaged fuel pipe might be causing an uneven flow of fuel to the engine. If not the fuel pipes, does the cabbie have a MAF sensor? might be clogged up, there are some useful tutorials on YT on how to clean it up. Otherwise, well I did find this article, seems more tailored to the newer cars but it might hightlight a few other causes: http://motor.onehowto.com/article/wh...power-292.html Good luck! |

I'll check the lambda first, that was my main suspect. That could also cause the high consumption, however it's only higher than it should be around town. On the long run, I am pleased to say it returns around 30-35 mpg which I think is brilliant for the engine size and car age.
Stood for almost 3 years yes. When it's hesitating and has little power, a push on the throttle sorts it. Weird. Also I'm not 100% sure but seems like this problem is more evident when the engine is cold. Thanks! Any other ideas are still welcome! |
