Sooty raffled one off ( brand new vintage 80's ) the other year at our QOC AGM. Highest bid was Nigel Goward at around 315 quid I.I.R.C.

I concur with Booty about that lap of the TT in a Rover 800 Vitesse by Tony Pond. It's on Youtube. Anyone who hasn't seen it will be well impressed, as the 800 Vitesse was crap and I used to leave many of them in my wake in my G Plate 90 quattro 20V back in the day!

being a kid at the time I didnt see much of the group B rallying, especially if it wasnt on BBC telly....
but for me the driver that got my vote would be split Michelle ( no pun intended) the under dog..... being the first woman rally driver I can think of REALLY gave it to the guys as a serious threat and not there to make up the numbers or publicity for Audi having a woman driver... and co driver to think of it ( Fabrizia Ponz) then Walter in his Pikes Peak. Shamu Mikola and the Ur Stig. as for home grown celebs.... probably Mr McCrae until Colin turned up. A talented family behind the wheel if ever there was one. I dont follow it at all now so couldnt even name a modern driver apaart from Loeb r what ever his name is

Out of all the home drivers my votes would go to Jimmy McRae winning those titles against most of the greatest drivers from the WRC, Mark Lovell for the reasons mentioned above & Ulster 87(magnificent driving), Dave Metcalfe for the Manx 89, that was a giant killing & last but not least Richard Burns so smooth didnt look as if he was trying but always very quick, youngest british champion at the time aswell.
