Default Audi 80 Blower motor

Was in the Audi yesterday and noticed how horribly weak the blowers are. I mean it's like having a mouse breathe in you, just not very effective at all.
As I'm potentially driving it down to Cornwall in July I'd quite like to be able at least move some air around the cab, even if it is warm.
Are they all like this or is there something I can do to improve it?(que the 'open the windows' jokes)

Hello,

Not sure, but it may be down to age. The blower on my C3 has three settings and I swear the first setting always produced a gentle but noticeably adequate flow of air. Now it is barely noticeable. Settings 2 and 3 are fine.

I thought one day I'd take the time to get behind the lever controls and sandpaper the metal contacts they run along and see what effect that has.

I don't know what else to suggest mate...

It should have a 3? speed switch (0,1,2,3), does it speed up or not?

Yet it has the 3 settings, they seem to all work OK it's just that setting 3 is like youd expect setting 1 to be, you can hear the motor going but not much air is moving out the vents. 2 and 1 are pretty much pointless, the motor goes but air flow is almost non existent.

Sounds like something is wrong, the blower fan is adequate.

Might be worth a look at the fan to check for any blockages, or broken blades. I take it the intake in the scuttle is clear? The flap foam can disintegrate over time as well.

To be honest I haven't checked anything. Guess that's the next thing to do really is poke around, I just didn't know if the fans were a weak point on the 80s or something.

Issues with the resistor pack are common due to the motor bearings, but then you loose speed control which you still have.
