Default B2 Front Wing Removal

Hi all,
I’m just wondering if anyone has any method, tips or advice for removing the front wings on a 1985 B2 Coupe? I’ve got a Haynes manual but bizarrely I can’t seem to find references to the front wings.

The ones on our car are in poor shape and need replacing with something better.

Thanks,
S.

Default removal

not to hard a job
open bonnet remove bolts along top of wing
open door remove screw at corner of screen pillar
Jack up remove wheel locate bolts usually covered in sealant maybe need to remove arch liners if fitted bolts located under Meath nearest the door
remove bolts holding wing to fron panel
cut sealant in joint of front panel
pull like **** if your replacing them won't matter if you destroy them
oops I think there's a fixing at the bottom of the wing at the sill as well ages since I've done one
easy

Exactly as stated.... and the gloop/sealant is good stuff so make sure you have a good few quid available for the swear jar when/if the wings don't want to move..

Just undo all the bolts and heat the sealant from under the wing inside the inner wing and also alongside the a-pillar in front of the door. That and a little patience.

What is the sealant? I suspect it's missing off this car. The car had an accident in 2000 and the owner paid £3,400 to have the front end rebuilt including new wings, bonnet and bumper. However I suspect they neglected to replace the sealant properly if at all.

I'd like to replace it with the right stuff.

Thanks.

This:-

Under the top edge (line of bolts under the bonnet).
Also has almost as many uses as duct tape around the home / car!

Originally, this sealant ONLY was used between the inner & outer wing on the top edge. The inner wing top surface was not painted first - just left bare metal.
This was a bad move by Audi and is why the top of the inner wings rust under the outer wing.
After any repairs are done, paint the top surface of the inner wing before you fit the outer wing.

Thanks So Much for that link!! Very useful information too! I suspect this may be missing on our car because it does leak rather badly, I found the glovebox full of water once. The car is under a cover currently to prevent water ingress.

I'll report back once I've got round to removing the wing.

Thanks again. S.

Yeah thanks for that, I'll need it for refitting my front wing as well.
