Default Present from my MOT tester

Took HOL out for a bit tonight, she seemed in a very good mood, still brings a smile to my face every time we go out even after all these years.

...almost too good a mood as she was keeping a secret from me! On trying to open the bonnet for a last little look before putting her to bed I found the handle was loose! Cable wasnt working the latches!! Last opened at MOT... Argh.

Had to take the under tray off and work the latches manually with a screwdriver from underneath the car, looks as though the parts of the cable that pull on the latch are/were plastic and are now non existent!!

Sure I saw a bit for a ur Quattro on ebay that was metal, thinking I might be able to salvage the cable with a couple of those, or is there a more ingenious fix I wonder?

Looks like the metal ones on ebay are long gone.

My part number should be 443 823 597A, can see it was revised to 8A0 823 597 which I can(t) get from Tradition, or there is 4A0 823 597 from an A6 on ebay looks pretty much identical...?! Worth a punt methinks, dear though at £6.69 + £3.00 p&p!!
