Discuss!

Looking at the video it looks as if it's possible that anyone can activate the self driven aspect of the car so you don't necessarily have to be in the drivers seat to begin autopilot!

Should improve the standard of driving from BMW drivers BUT I bet the indicators still don't work

I recon that's the only good thing.

What a load o' pish. It'll appeal to folks that claim to be into cars but actually don't know a thing about how they work or how to drive them.
I'd rather be in control for the "ultimate driving experience" (think that was how BMW sold it?!).
Just another gimmick for other manufacturers' to follow.
It's certainly not for me, in case anyone was in any doubt.

In 10-15 years time we will have cars with this technology and with the EU Galileo system instead of GPS the EU will be able to monitor, control AND charge for all of our journeys

Bullshit. What Galileo has to do with any government's wishes to charge road tax according to mileage? It will be just what is GPS or GLONASS - bunch of statellites transmitting precise time signals, which are used by receivers to triangulate location.

I actually don't understand what's the purpose of all this stuff. Ok, some may claim it would improve safety, but I haven't heard about any public roads which should be driven by drifting. In any case, while there are people happy about possible autopilot option for cars, I am not - why should I be interested in something that would make me redundant?

few more years and they'll be everywhere
read this article recently - really well written if not a little long. Bear with it though
