Question Clean Engine Bay

I'm just rebuilding the engine in my 200 5T, partly because I want it to look like new. I've just sent off all of the metal covers and pipes to be stripped, cleaned and repainted black. Would like new braided injector pipes but don't think this is possible??? Any tips for giving an authentic make over??

Anyone got any photos of restored VW / Audi engine bays for inspiration??

hmmmm, engine bay detailing!!

Easiest way.
Firstly cover anything electric, although if you want a thorough clean, then don't worry too much about this as long as your going to dry it out properly (by cleaning all the connections after).
Then spray an all Purpose Cleaner (Meguiars do a good one) liberally all over the engine bay, then get a brush and agitate the dirt and grime.
Easiest way of rinsing it off is get a watering can, fill it with hot water and then rinse it off.
Then spray with a protectant such as 303 Aerospace Protectant.
It's worth while turning the engine on as the heat will help the process and help it to dry out afterwards.
You'll be able to get a good tidy looking engine bay from this.

This was a typical grubby engine bay 1/2 an hour before the picture was taken.

Yes, I did have a good look at this one - looks great. Don't know why but a clean engine appeals to me...

It's an excellent selling point. You see a clean engine, first thing you'll think, is that's it's a well looked after car and doesn't have any nasty oil leaks!!!

Works everytime for me!!
