Take it in to audi, explain the issue- ask them to provide a solution.

Ensure you drink plenty of complementary coffee to make the visit worthwhile.

Is that a tactful way of casting aspersions on my engineering skills ?? :-)

Sounds like a good idea, particularly as some mates work there and are keen to see the quattro!!

It's my slightly ironic/sarcastic/cynical humour, I'm afraid.

But given that Audi can't reliably supply the correct part, it seems a shame that the main option is for the customer to effectively select the right part by buying lots of wrong uns in the process.
If Audi were doing the job, they'd probably return all of the dodgy ones once done. (Or keep them on stock to sell to the rest of us later) So; drink their coffee while they look at the issue. Close to £200 in parts, I think you deserve it.

Ironic, sarcastic, and especially cynical? All necessary requisites to survive the day job!!

As for the parts , only the £55 part came from Audi, the other was via someone else who it probably is inappropriate to name, but the price was £115, just checked the invoice! When my piggy bank is a bit fuller , will give the Audi dealer one another shot!

I'd be sending that £115 piece of junk right back where it came from for a full refund.

Now, don't get too excited-
I took the seal off of mine earlier, to sort out and check a couple of other things. After refitting it, lo and behold, it wouldn't shut. After a fair bit of buggerin about, the pic above shows it shut as far as it wants to go for now.

It's not necessarily a solution to the problem, as such. I can't remember though, what shape it was in when it first arrived.

Yup, that looks about the same as mine, if not a little bit worse....and in defence of the guy who sold me the expensive sun roof seal, the profile of that seal did look a lot more like the one that was removed originally from my car.
For the time being , I'm going to sit tight, BUT will still pay a visit to the local dealership as suggested earlier...... when I have a free moment!
