Lubing throttle and clutch cables on KE? 2.2e
I have adjusted my clutch and although it works fine the cable feels/sounds stiff. Is there a safe/easy way of lubing it? Is grease better than something Teflon spray?
The throttle also feels 'dry' and want to lube it before I snap any cables. Any help welcomed. The car is a 1983 coupe GT manual |

Ive only tried it once a long time ago, but, With the cable off your can make a funnel on the end of the outer sleeve using plasticine or similar and slowly feed some oil into it while working the cable itself and holding it verticle to work it through the length of it.

don't use grease. All grease will do is grab any grit and wear the cable faster.
The clutch cable will feel dry due to the way it routes under the dash, it's not the best design. And as such they are prone to failure so you would be wise to carry a spare in the boot. Trust me I know from experience having one go on the M62 last year. Easily available off ebay for not much spondoolics |

You were right - my clutch cable went pop this morning. Luckily I was only 200m from home, but am frantically trying to find a replacement. Are the 5-pot cables all the same? GSF want £36!
