Torsen is a differential, not a gearbox..........

The gearbox in the 1.8 litre Audi 80 was 4.56 : 1 as far as I know.

B2 4cyl 1.8q gearbox is not bolt-on to 5cyl engine.

Audi gearbox with Tor-Sen diff then, you knew what i meant....

If they really wont fit together, then either the gear sets have been replaced, or the rev counter over-reads. Since my mate has just dynoed his 90CD, and the rev counter over-reads... Then its possible. Think his CD said 8000@ a true 6500

As someone else has also said... a 4 cyl engine needs a box designed for that engine, ditto for a 5 cyl. If our B2 engine is a KK, a gearbox for a 1.8 won't physically fit it.....

It's a difficult job to fit the internals from a 4 cyl box into a 5 cyl box..... Possible but not easy. Much easier and cheaper to just get a replacement box in the event of a failure

At this point you should have a look at the number stamped into the top of your gearbox bell housing close to the back of the engine.

Also....
Have a look at your speedo and see what part number is printed on the front of it (if visible), and also the "W=....." number.

That information will help. Is your speedo giving a reasonably accurate figure?

Spedo is only about 2mph over (surprisingly), by a phone app and sat nav for comparison. So no problem there...
My MK2 Golf must over-read by 10%, its well off. This KK is nearly right

Just found 6B15 on the top of the box...
Spedo W=1740
VDO
811 190

Thats how it reads coming down the clocks, the 811 190 is tiny!
