Default Audi 200 Group A Rally Cars, Barn Find Ex-Works

What a Barn Find..............

Two cars, both Audi 200 quattro's and both Ex-Works - what are the chances of that?

These two cars have just been found in Finland and the buyer is going to restore them. They are not for sale, but I'm going to try and persuade him to join us here and perhaps you guys will help him with a few bits he might need to return both cars to their former glory.

Car one is originally registered in Germany by Audi Sport, as IN-YV 74

it was driven by Walter Rohrl in the 1987 Acropolis Rally and in later rallies by Armin Schwarz, and subsequently Suzanne Kottulinsky.

Interior, as it is today..........

Engine bay, as it is today.......

The second car was also Audi Sport Germany, but registered to Schmidt Motorsport as N SM 613.

It was Solely used by Armin Schwarz and debuted on The Sachs Winter Rallye, finishing in first place.............that's a result from such a big bus!!!!

Photos of how she looks now.........

On the trailer before being washed......

After a wash.......

As she was with Armin

what kind of people have barns which store such treasures for many a year?

I'm presuming the bloke who did own them was aware of what he had but never got round to doing anything with them, and probably bought them for peanuts about 20 years ago?

Another quality thread which many people will watch unfold over the next year or so!

keep them coming John!

@hansport

The owner will rebuilt the first car as memorial for his friend, who drove this car
in Rallyes , and died some month ago. The last wish was to rebuilt the car back in the origin condition.

The owner is such a nice guy and his respect to the last wish of his dead friend is great.

20 years ago, these cars were worth the square route of zero, so.......yes, I guess the seller picked them up for very little.

In today's market, Group A cars are fetching strong money.

Great to see two original machines recovered and now having a bright future, though!

It's not all money....................It's a passion for history I guess

Booty.............

I'm so pleased it's made you happy.

With a bit of luck, the guy that owns them will join us on here and we can watch them being restored.

Personally, I think we need more of this - road and rally, it's all good stuff!

Cheers matey........
