Coxy, cool thread topic. My 83 Coupe was owned by an audiophile. The system in it was based around a late 80's, early 90's Alpine. Sadly the unit seems defunct. Its an early pull out unit, rides in a "Bensi" box which comes with a carryin case. There was also an Alpine CD unit mounted separately on the lower dash cubby hole. He padded it with soft cell black foam. I guess it was constantly skipping and needed rebooting. I'm switching to 1998 Audi/VW model which is subtle, but Ipod compatible. I'm working on re-coning the old Boston Accoustic speakers. The frame and grill cover have left thare mark on the NLA door panel, so I'm trying to work within their pre-existing footprint.

Here is a pic of the newer unit, just slid in to the opening, not installed or wired. This tasc is for Sunday with my brother. Took forever to get the replacement Fuba antenna. I'm looking into JBL 5 1/2 inch replacement cones. The local shop has 'em in stock. Xmas has intruded into addition Audi expenditures. The larger speakers in the back on the parcel shelf are vintage Alpine, and functional for now.

1981 Blaupunkt Melborne M21. There's a great French website on these vintage car stereos; http://users.skynet.be/antique.autoradio/

I've got a couple of early Blaupunkts in my unit.

Got a Hamburg from my old 1968 Audi 70 plus another random one.

Will get pics next week.

I got the stock head unit. I don't use the phone and the cassette setup no more, it was too fiddly and the phone would fall out and was too distracting whilst driving.

I just listen to the radio.

How about an original Blau CD player?

Incidently, I believe the Blaupunkt CDP-05 and Denver SQM-108 was the "standard" setup in the Sport?

A CDP-05 in Aug 1988 would have cost you £649.69, and the Denver unit £252.94

You then had to add speakers, fitting, etc.

A Berlin IQR87 would have set you back £1437.44....... And thats not a typo!

I have a new and unused CDP-05 and a new SQM-108 in their boxes up in the loft
