The chap who's selling it is picking me up on his way back from Portsmouth (to save me a trip and fuel!). I'll report back as to how well it drives!

good move! You'll only be filling up once a month! Compared to what you've been spending in fuel, it'll pay for itself in about 18 months!

Yeah, not long before I'll reap the benefits!

Yes, it's a B5.5 It has 125K on the clock and drives like new (has FSH and has been pampered). Hoping it'll last me a few years! What's yours? 257K is good going...I saw a B5.5 with over 400K on the clock recently on eBay.

its a t plate, and its a 1.9 tdi SE , its been spot on , doesnt use a drop of oil or water, however the front suspension is a little slack to say the least lol

brilliant motors though, have no doubt that you will have no problems with it

Sounds like you've got a good 'un then! The only thing that concerns me is there's a hummy noise which sounds like a wheel bearing (changes very slightly when loading side to side). 40mph is when it's loudest. I'm hoping it's a wheel bearing rather than the diff in the 6 speed box! Noise doesn't seem to change when accelerating or changing gear, gets louder when I brake though.
