Not sure where you are located but Hypertech in Bonnybridge is very good.

Obviously the cars not starting so ring around for a place you trust, and ask them to send out their preferred Auto electrician.
One cost me recently £50 for an hour which will be cheaper than if you put in the garage.

Hi just wondered who the specialist was that you found? I’m at kinross and always like to know where I can get more knowledgable service. I have used Leiths in Dundee before they were good too

Hi. I just came across this old thread, and noticed your post. Sorry for not seeing it.

The 'Specialist' was Star Performance in Dysart, Kirkcaldy. Unfortunately, they were a total waste of time. Left a message for them to call me back....they didn't. Phoned them, and was then told that my 1993 car was too old for them as they didn't have the tools to work on it.

I reckon they're the sort of 'specialists' who don't know how to fix a car unless a computer tells them exactly what to do.

Came across this old post, and realised that I hadn't tidied things up by posting the outcome, just in case it helps someone else suffering the same fate!

The cause of the fault was the brand new Intermotor camshaft position sensor that I had fitted. It had failed, preventing the car from restarting.

New Bosch one sorted things out

I'm not surprised about the Intermotor part, I won't touch them with a bargepole after all sorts of problems with unreliability in my Volvo Amazon when I replaced the faulty Lumenition ignition system. My local parts factors only stock IM ignition bits now so thet have lost a customer. Back to Volvo OEM from a bloke in Ipswich.

Glad you got it going OK - hope you got a refund for the duff part!

Yep, duff part returned & refunded.

Now looking for a replacement set of plug leads. The new set of Magneti Marelli ones I also fitted last year have now shown to be suffering from a split boot on 2 leads.

I've come to the conclusion that modern spares are total poo!
