Spoke to the chap.
Decent car on his description, hes sunk a lot of time and money into it ,i may go and take a look tomorrow, but he's going to let it run to the end on the bay, which will inflate the price.

Why oh why do people feel the need to keep bidding on a car 4 or 5 days out from the finish of an auction??I just don't get the logic.

Of course if they're not genuine bids that's another matter?

To stop the "how much to buy it now feckers" Serious bidders know the value and will bid strong early and hold back the last few grand till the end! If it's a genuine auction that goes till the end it will be yours if your really want it.

Couple weeks ago i bid strong on an auction to try stop the ^feckers^ on an Audi i'm after but it was still taken of early by the dealer and sold to a trader on here cheaply.Gutted as i really wanted that car!!

Back in 1992 the girlfriend at the time had a 1 year old light grey one last of the last XR3i's. It was a great car to drive, not as refined as an Audi obviously but still so much fun. Even to this day i have never covered the distance between London and Rhyl N.Wales as quickly thanks to the speed cameras.

I went to see it and its a nice car, I think you will wait a long time finding one that has had this level of restoration.

However there are a few niggles on closer inspection. Panel fit and gaps are a bit uneven around where the wings join the bonnet and boot areas, the leading edge of the bonnet and the headlight/indicator areas. Probably due to having to use non ford panels during the restoration, which generally don't fit.

I'm pretty sure a few of these left the factory in worse shape BITD but it would bug me,at this price point you'd want it right.

The car has zero history prior to the current ownership,so it has more likely done 145k and although pretty much everything has been replaced with new there is no evidence of engine or gearbox rebuilds.

That said it did sound sweet as a nut, and these engines are not complex.

I'm sure it will make a decent purchase for someone but as only 2 people have viewed it some people are bidding based on the Ebay photos alone.

It will be interesting to see what it realises as it is at 7.9k at the moment.

For me I'll wait for a more original but exceptionally correct car with good history or a higher standard restored one.

I am a fussy bugger though
