I prefer it on here.

I think I've had my £7.50 worth now. I would contribute more if it helped keep the forum going.

Im hoping to get a reply from Coxy, but if anyone has a more direct line, all the better.

The immediate things that strike me about running a forum are (and be gentle, I know Nuffink about running a forum)

Cost of the space/storage
Cost of the hosting
Cost of the tech support
Space or cost of hosting photos
Time to do so.

I’d like to think that there is sufficient interest to keep it running, but I think time is short. I’m making enquiries about the process, as I do generally have a lot of idle time which could be put to some use.

But keep the responses coming.

Likewise. I have noticed on occasion (this last weekend for example) I get an error message when clicking on my saved bookmark. I did wonder if there is a web-hosting fee outstanding that we could contribute towards?

I'm on here and Facebook, and probably for similar reasons to others - I know people that are on Facebook but have no interest in most of the other forums I'm on. It's nice to keep in touch with them. But FB has all sorts of issues - the ads, the random ordering, the difficulty in finding something you posted a week ago, never mind last year, the struggle to remember which group you saw something in, never mind when it was or who posted it, or *anything* that might allow you to find it again.

As a now ex Audi owner I still find myself checking into the forum, because:

a: civilised / far less cynical one upmanship
b: informed members
c: the help that members have me back in the day.. maybe I can give back in the future.
d: Already abandoned CA on Facebook it just not.... well... here.

Rock on guys.. keep it rolling..

As (possibly) the last surviving moderator of classic Audi I feel it has probably the best behaved, most informative, supportive, genuinely interesting and eclectic members of any Audi forum. There are also some properly iconic motorsport engineers who frequent this forum who would be lost to the classic Audi community should anything happen to it. The loss of those links to such a skilled Audi engineering ‘generation’ would be unforgivable.

When a member here posts a reply or a new post, somewhere in UK and beyond, it sparks interest from a like minded enthusiast... That’s what forum do, and it takes decades to develop that.
Totally agree with the above statement, must be an age thing even though I worked in IT for 37 years social media passed me by no interest in it whatsoever. On the odd occasion I have ventured onto the faceplant version of classicaudi or other automotive interests I have this I've found them unnavigable and full of throw away posts totally unlike this or other forums I use.

I admit to be being mainly Facebook these days its great for building meets and events which is my main activity like Audi's in the Park but it will never have the in depth knowledge you get on the forum. Alistair Cox has vowed to keep (and pay for) the forum going and for that we should be grateful.
For those who don't use Facebook you could sign up giving virtually no personal info whatsoever to join in on Classic-Audi on there, its a lively community.
