Default Anti freeze question

I want to drain and refill my MB ur coolant. What “G” number is best?
I’ve read about aluminium and brass and solder and steel...and am confused.

Is G13 best for the car? Or G12++?
It is all standard-no Aluminium radiator.

Thanks!

It would have had G11 when new (blue).

The latest G13 can be mixed with anything.

Just don't use G12 (red)

Thanks-i'm still confused though. This webiste

https://www.wolflubes.com/EN_EU/Blog...d-coolant.aspx

says G11 was introduced in 1994, and also says that G13 is not good for copper/brass radiators and lead solder.
I want ot buy a 20 litre drum of the stuff, and also use it in my 1970 Spitfire. Am i going to cause myself problems?

I just can't get my head round these things. I will certainly do a flush through of my MB system, so this will be all new coolant in the system and I like the idea of G13 which can mix with anything, in case i get stuck some time in the future, but will G13 be OK with the standardradiator?

Thanks again..

PS
this is the sort of thing that gets on my nerves:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MANNOL-20...7fb99f7cd90412

its claimed to be "G13+" and is yellow. But what is G13+ (plus??), and G13 is purple/violet...

I actually have this in at the moment, having flushed everything else out:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5L-MANNOL...35422140e15c34

Its called AG13 but is green! As long as i don't mix it with anything else then this is fine, but will I remember in 2 years?
Best to get rid now and start again...

G11 was around long before 1994. It replaced G10 which started life in the 70s.

TL 774-B is the spec for G11. It changed to TL 774-C in 1994.

In terms of the Spitfire, I'd only use the blue G11 or equivalent. You'll be replacing it regularly.

G13 should be fine in the MB

I'm running G11 in both my 90s. 20 litres is only around £40 in concentrate form

If it helps i put G12++ in my KV ‘89 90q when i got it 2007 (along with new genuine header tank, genuine heater matrix, genuine aux rad, new Behr heavy duty rad and new water pump) ran for a few years, flushed, switched to the new G13 and ran that for a good few years (when it came out it looked absolutely as clean as it did when it went in) Has had G13 in it again since 2017(?) no leaks, no overheating, no issues at all in fact, other than it stained the new expansion tank slightly pink which i had to clean out before the latest lot.

Being 31 its had the pink modern Audi branded coolant in it just under half its life now, if it wasn’t suitable i think it would have manifested itself by now... (how many years had it had nothing, a mix, stuff from Netto in it before me, who knows...?)

Thanks Mike and mellis!
G13 it is. Will get it ordered so I can flush and fill up before the cold weather.

(G13 is what I thought I’d bought, it was just a misleading brand name. )

Flushed out the system today. Not too bad-id only filled it last year anyway but I wanted to put G13 in. I bought 20l concentrate from ECP for £50 odd.

From as empty as I could get it, I added 12 pints which is 6.8 litres. A mix of 1 part AF to 2 parts deionised water.

Out of interest, while trying to
Find the recommended volume I found Phil Payne’s site referencing that the original was G11-as Mike said.
