Default Facebook post

While I was at my local motor factors yesterday with HOL I got a from a friendly RAC patrol, I've been sent a link to a FB post:

https://www.facebook.com/home.php?sk...85737258144547

I don't do facebook so can't read it () but just wanted to send a back! Nice to bump into another CA-er, albeit very fleetingly!!

This is exactly what i put.

"Mark posted the link on the forum as he's not on facebook and wanted someone to say hello back. Hello friendly RAC patrol."

Don't want to turn this into a facebook haters dartboard, but this is rather crazy, Mark wants to do facebook via somebody else.

I wouldn't just write anything, no chance, it's facebook. I just tried to stay faithful to what you said. Hope it was ok?

So does that mean your car is finished?

Spot on

No, far from it. She is in one piece again, but still waiting on exhaust, front suspension and tyres for those refurbed aeros...

I took the car out on Tuesday night for a good circuit but on the way back the alternator packed in. got back put the multi meter on and charge was non existent. Have since charged the battery up to full, checked the belt tension etc. Thats why i was in the motor factors, matching up a new Bosch alternator.

I bought the current one brand new for E400 XNS after its one blew up on the way back from Scotland about 15 years ago. One if the first things i did to HOL was swap this unit in as I bought her with a cabbaged battery and suspect alternator. So to get 15 years out of it, was pretty pleased.

So yeah, few jobs left to do but trying to keep her mobile all the while so all the other mechanicals don't suffer too much from being laid up...

Hmm that alternator lasted well i guess, certainly better than the blue oval, never had one go on the 2.6 in nearly 20 years. Yes keep them rolling every few weeks or months to keep them in good order.

I bet that felt good to get out in your beauty? About the Areos from the other day, yours in that refurb pic you supplied looked stunning and they just suite the B3 saloon so well imho, especially yours being such a nice example laden with many goodies!

Looking forward to an update soon on your thread when you've sorted out suspension tyres etc.

Certainly did, probably November the last time she saw the road, even though I've had 90s all this time it took me a second to re-acquaint! still get a kick out of driving it, felt sprightly compared to the works Vivaro thats for sure!!

Will have to upsate my thread with further progress, in all honesty its more about me pulling my finger out than any real issues stopping it getting finished now.

Life gets in the way and you don't always feel like doing stuff when it's freezing cold, we're all guilty of that.
