Default Bilstein B8 suppliers (Audi coupe B4)

I'm wondering if anyone has sourced some Bilsteins for their coupe B4? I'm preferably after a B8 kit with shortened dampers as I want to mate with 40mm+ all round H&R springs. Yet again trying to source new parts for this model is starting to test me. So far the best place I've tried is Larkspeed. Demon tweeks were being arsey and telling me to go for something else and C&R were astronomical in price. Anyone tried anything else other than Bilstein?

Your recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Steve

Just be aware that Bilstein have a habit of taking back orders for older units and constantly providing a future production date that never happens. Been waiting 4 months for a set of rears for my S6 and someone else on here waited a year before giving up.

Steve,

Have you tried these people? They are located in Basildon on the Eastern side of the town just off the A127.

Different beast I know but I have the "standard" ones on my Volvo Amazon rally car and I have found them excellent. They have a gas-filled option and also have an in-house design capability so they shouldn't have too much difficulty in fabricating to your requirements.

No connection other than a satisfied customer.

Chris.

If you already have those units, you might consider having them refurbished. I had my B6 units refurbished through Balance Motorsport who worked out some different damping rates to suit car better. I actually went direct to pick them up from Bilstein in Leicester when they were ready.
May be worth getting in touch with both companies. HTH

Thanks Chris, just spoke to guy at GAZ (Byron) and he said if I send my front suspension mounts (tube insert) with bearing carrier then they will convert that to a fully adjustable coilover!! all for a nice sum of £640 front and rear which I thought was pretty damn good. The cost of Bilsteins and H&R springs all round is over £700 so I think you've sold it to me

Result! Another thing in favour of them is you get a test sheet for each damper which are matched in pairs for "damping effort".

Yeah they’re only 10 miles up the road from me and to be honest I’m done with ride height being a bloody lottery so may as well get a quote for the rear at least. Thanks for reminding me they existed :-)
