And just like magic

Looks stunning, can't wait to see it for real.

Is that a fish eye on the filler cap wing towards the door shut a few inches back?

Yes, there is a couple on there I don't want to flat back that much, I usually leave them all till finished, because it's a solid colour you can drip in and then nib off with the Cotten reel sanding tool, then I usually use the air powered smart repair polishing machine for the local repair.

You don't these in base coat, only the clear coat. They are silicon contamination, even with anti silicon wax and degreaser you end up with a couple.

Yep, know what you mean about the silicone contamination. I've got a couple small clear coat scratches on the green goddess that otherwise spoils a near mint finish on the car. I'm hoping to use a tooth pic and pen some clear in carefully. I've got one on the other side which is 8 long hopefully do the same. I've never tried that before but what do you reckon?

Sorry read it again, yes you can prep the surface, use a grey scotch, or very fine, degrease and lay the clear coat on. Be let it dry for at least 3-4 days as it has to be hard or you will just pull it. Flat carefully with super fine or such and use carefully a denib block. I will take a pic of mine tomorrow to show you. I would hand polish to start, you could try smart repair compound.

Be real careful on OE finishes as there won't be much build and it's easy to go thru and touch the base, then you know what that means.

If the base coat has been touched at all with the scratch then I'm afraid no amount of clear will disguise it, it's a panel paint.
