This is the company that supplied my plating bits and pieces. It’s been languishing on a shelf, demanding to be put to use.

If you like shiney and new as a look you should give it a go.
It’s time consuming but ticks the OCD box nicely!

I've just set my plating kit up again, as I've got a job to do on my Vauxhall that needed a plated part. I bought it years ago, used it with mixed results, then put it away as it takes a bit of space having the plating tank, acid dip, clear and yellow passivate buckets as well as a plain water rinse bucket as I don't have running water in the shed.

I've recently bought it a proper regulated power supply (also from Gateros) and I've been getting much better results. I don't know if it's the PSU itself, or just the fact that I can now see when it's drawing the right current and adjust if necessary.

One warning, though - read up on a thing called "Hydrogen embrittlement" which apparently can result after plating, and it's avoided by plating and then heating the parts up for some time. I can't do that, so it does limit the kind of stuff I can plate, I wouldn't do things like suspension or brake mounting bolts and so on.

(Imperfections in the surface are because I had to make these front pieces from scratch, so they're filing marks and so on. Can't stop myself plating random carburettor linkages as well though.)
