3B uses the K24. Happy to get a non smoking turbo for now.
As for quick enough..well I used to think me chipped Passat hads fairly quick in gear acceleration, then I fitted the 20Vt into the coupe and then found out what good in gear acceleration was, but soon got used to it and found some of these new cars could keep up with it, uprated the intercooling and fittted this latest chip set and found out what quick is really like. But you soon get used to it and having a Astra VXR almost keep up has tempted me to upgrade to RS2 spec during next Winter SORN period but if new bottom end required then could be 2 years in the making

My 200 turbo (10v KG) has a k26. I knew when I got the car that a watercooled turbo wasn't standard for that year (84) but didn't know until I joined here that standard fitment is a k24. lag and response are perfectly acceptable (ie better than most turbo cars I have driven) and it starts to produce positive pressure from 1500rpm, can't imagine ever going back to a k24.
This was of course before she developed running issues, but I'll start my own thread when I've had more time to investigate.

Both my 1B 200 QTs had the K26 watercooled and like Woodsman's, mine was spooling up at about 1600rpm and got 1.6bar indicated at just over 2000rpm. (I still have a spare K26 watercooled from a KG in my shed requiring a rebuild.)

Oh, hang on, better keep that quiet... yeah, the 200s are laggy. If anyone's got one, sell it (to me please) and buy summat else
