We've got 4" here just outside of Southampton and it's still coming down thick and fast. Loving it as I can work from home!

Well, here is the "official" winter tyre guru here.

I set off at 0615 to drive the 49 miles to work (Wiltshire to Berkshire) and got about half way and decided to turn round because on my way I had passed a lorry stuck up a small incline, and didn't want to get stuck on the way back. I only had to do 2.75 hours work today.

On the way back I overtook many cars, mostly they were doing 15mph and I was doing 40-45mph no problems. At the point where the lorry was stuck, other vehicles had got stuck trying to get round it, so I took to the back lanes and got round it no problem. Then on the A4 from Avebury to Calne everybody was again doing 15mph, and I was overtaking them no problem. Steering, cornering, braking no problem.

I can imagine some of the drivers were going "look at that tw4t.....".

Got home, had some more coffee, pulled the kids round the estate on their sledges (1 rope pulling 3 sledges), then went off for a 3 mile run, then ran 200 yards barefoot.

That's just the way I roll.

As Lofty said, if this country made it mandatory to fit winter tyres November to April (or similar), or made you pay if you got stuck while having unsuitable tyres, that would be great.

All those people that say "I can't afford it", all you need is a spare set of wheels.

While your winter tyres are on your summer tyres are nicely tucked up in the garage.
