on yours it will probably be integral to the metering head.( a little shuttle valve i think)

biggyin is the man with the diagrams though..!
biggyin do you have a cutaway pic or location pic for the pressure valve in the head..?
Is yours K-Jet or KE-Jet?
I,ll read manual on train,on the way to work tomorrow.
I remember reading something about a restrictor getting clocked up causing high pressure?
I,ll get back you tomorrow,I,ll have pics by then.
I HATE the BOSCH System.
I,ve got all the pressures tests, todo myself.Maybe Saturday?

I like the Bosch sytem for it's simplicity but it's easy to imagine it's a complicated fault when 99 times out of 100 it won't be.

Just a thought... (presuming you still have a cambelt where it should be) you have fuel and spark, but still none of the cylinders firing so I'm guessing it's air. Dropped compression would only cause a problem of absolutely no cylinders firing if all cylinders were affected (unlikely). I once ran a 100 with a holed piston for about 1500 miles till I could source an engine so they will run even with relatively no compression at all on one cylinder.

A leak on the intake side anywhere (not just on a couple of injector o-rings since these engines will fire and run on 3 out of 5 cylinders at least) will stop the thing firing up. Dodgy oil filler cap seal, air metering intake hose crack, even a perished crank case breather pipe could cause this problem. If the various bits of the metering head are working correctly, fuel will still enter the cylinders because these are mechanical injectors, they rely on the piston down-stroke vacuum to open them, so they will deliver fuel pretty much regardless of what the mechanic does to adjust the fuel metering head.

I had a similar problem once with my first 100. It was so difficult to actually tell whether the very large hose clamp (jubilee clip) on the bottom of the fuel metering hose where it sits on the metering head was tightening onto the rubber hose or slipping over the edge. So little room to see or feel that it seemed it was seated properly, but it wasn't. The mechanic only discovered the fault when he accidentally leant on top of the hose (unwittingly creating an airtight seal) whilst I was turning it over and it started. As soon as he stood up, it stopped again. The other thing could be a crack in that hose hidden from view which only opens up when in situ. Your problem appeared when you changed the metering head so that's a good place to start with fault finding. What did you disturb to do it, work from that point.

Check all the air intake path between the metering head and the intake manifold for leaks, and the condition of your oil filler cap, rocker cover gasket and oil crankcase breather pipes and I reckon you'll find the cause. On a 5 pot it'll be something so simple you'll kick yourself when you find it.

checked the fuel accumalator today and all seems fine, swapped metering heads as well and pulled an injector to find when i tried to start it it gave a small spurt and thats all so my mate who has a golf gti m1 checked his car and the same a small spurt then nothing but when he shoved back in it starts fine ,so now im guessing this is the norm and theres nothing wrong with the metering head on mine,so maybe now its futher on and i've been looking in the wrong area p.s im now getting a smell of petrol from the oil??? should i change it
