Could be, you've eliminated everything else bar a dead guage.

Ben, you are a genius ! Did as you suggested and was a bit sceptical to be honest....then put the original binnacle back in and the gauge worked!!

That must be the best fix I've ever been told about , and I'd have never guessed what to do in a million years so a HUGE thank you.

Frank- you'd be surprised how many electrical/electronic problems are actually related to bad connections. In many cases, it simply stops something working. Once in a while it causes a bigger issue.

In my past life as an engineer, I've been sent overseas to fix big problems that were ultimately fixed with a pencil eraser and a duster.
It's not always the case.

In this instance, you have a car that is more open to the elements than your average machine. Tarnished connections are to be expected in all vehicles.

Not quite, a genius can spell gauge correctly. I used all the right letters, but not necessarily in the right order.

Glad it's fixed

Thanks Mark and your comments noted and agreed with, it's just that I would never have guessed those 2 little screws were actually "contacts" for the gauge. Had loads of 'earth' issues on the Arrow, but then that was not only old, but had to really get up and about in the elements.

That was my reaction, too, when I was sorting the dash for one of the V8s

A quick, but heart felt thanks to all of you who helped with your suggestions for solving the problem, which eventually became 3 problems. Two down , one to go !
